# Price trend

The Price trend box shows how the [USDT](https://docs.p2pprice.app/glossary/) price moved over a period of time. It uses two colored lines so you can see at a glance whether prices went up, went down, or stayed the same.

## What you see

The box draws two lines on a chart:

- **Green line.** The average [buy price](https://docs.p2pprice.app/glossary/) over time. This is what buyers paid to get USDT.
- **Red line.** The average [sell price](https://docs.p2pprice.app/glossary/) over time. This is what sellers received when giving USDT.

Both lines move from left (older) to right (newer) across the chart.

## How to read the lines

Reading the chart is simple:

- A line going **up** means the price rose during that time.
- A line going **down** means the price fell during that time.
- A flat line means the price stayed about the same.

When the green and red lines are close together, the gap (the [spread](https://docs.p2pprice.app/glossary/)) between buying and selling is small. When they are far apart, the gap is larger.

## How a beginner uses it

Use the Price trend box to answer one basic question: is the price right now cheaper or more expensive than before?

For example, if the green line is lower today than it was yesterday, buyers are paying less for USDT now. If the red line is higher than before, sellers are getting more. This helps you decide whether to act now or wait.

You do not need to know advanced trading. Just look at where the lines are at the right edge of the chart compared to where they started on the left.

## Filters that change the chart

The Price trend chart follows the filters you set at the top of the page:

- **Time range.** Choose a shorter or longer period to zoom in or out.
- **Currency.** Pick the [fiat](https://docs.p2pprice.app/glossary/) currency you trade in, such as USD, EUR, or another local currency.
- **[CEX](https://docs.p2pprice.app/glossary/).** Choose which CEX to watch, for example Binance. The chart will only show data from that exchange.

Change any filter and the chart updates right away to match your selection.
